The amount of nutrients being applied is great for the grass, but very diluted to something like a pet. If you'd like, you can wait 24 hours and the nutrients will have been absorbed into the plant. An alternative option would be to try a new product we carry called Turf Thrive. Best done when the grass is just finished coming out of dormancy, but can be done anytime the grass is growing and not under stress (very very hot or dry). The plugs, even after fertilization with Nutri 20, are slow to spread. I have appled a second application (4 weeks apart) in hopes that I will see the desired results. Even today, thought the property is not well kept, the established Zoysia lawn continues to thrive (I sold the property in 1988.) I know that it has worked well so I remain hopeful.
